OTOH been a long time since I hot rodded a 6 cylinder...
Early 70's I had a Falcon with a 300 cube ford truck six...and lotsa mods. fun car.
But anyway, a Camaro vert deserves respect regardless of drive train.

With so much emphasis focused on the "muscle" versions for so long, it's refreshing to see an original base powertrain now and then. Eventually, these will be the rare ones.

I've been trying to find the time to go look at a car a fellow I know has for sale. It's a 1970 (or is it 69.5?) Camaro Z-28 with what I've been told is original 350, and transmission. I think it was made in Sept or Oct of 69, but is definitely a Series 2 car.
I also happen to have a local buddy who rebuilds cars, and it just so happens that his specialty is Series 2 Camaros. If fact he's got two in his garage right now. He's pretty eager to see the car and knows he might have a shot at it if I pass. Of course, this is a pretty tight time financially, so depending on the asking price, we'll see....

The 70 is second generation...I just don't care for those. I'm strictly a 67-69 guy if I'm gonna cross lines and drive a Camaro...
Not many GM cars turn me on past 70 or so...frankly, in GM's defense, not many American cars do either. But ya gotta drive something...I did have an early 70's 302 Maverick....wish I had it back...crappy car but damn it was fun to drive...and spooked the hell out of a lot of big blocks..
The American car industry pretty much hit rock bottom in the 70's...they spent the 80's recovering, and IMHO it's only been the last 10-15 years we have started really building good stuff again...

Jack Clifford was an engineer on the Apollo space project BTW.
He made hot rod parts for most sixes, including the Chevy 292. Dang- if I didn't know better I'd think I was trying to talk myself into that Camaro... a full house 292 would haul it around pretty good.

I ain't done as much engine stuff as some of you guys, but I only remember the GM/Chevrolet 250CID 6-cyl. The 292 must've been before my times.
ETA(edited to add): Those muffler-alloy type headers will get holes because of the searing heat of the exhaust.
The 292 hi torque 300HP came in a lot of heavy duty/commercial trucks "C50-C60" series, i don't know if there was a passenger version. But, a lot of them ended up in passenger vehicles over the years. There were also governed versions for industrial applications.

Convert it to EFI and add a turbocharger. That would make it run quite nice!

The Ford Falcon 6 is alive and well, designed and manufactured in Australia. Here is the premium factory six.

V8s are available if you like some throb but this six is quicker.
